Greater Akron Chamber's KNOW Empowering Women Luncheon Presents Leading Change on May 18

4/27/2016

Greater Akron—Join KNOW on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, to hear Dr. Steven Ash, University of Akron, present "Leading Change".  Dr. Ash will use research from the fields of leadership, change management, and cognitive psychology to illustrate the traps that leaders might fall into if they are not careful. Since modern organizations must be adaptable, Change management can only be effective if leadership is able to identify new ways of framing problems.

Dr. Ash joined The University of Akron in 2001 and has been Chair of the Department of Management in the College of Business Administration since 2009. His research interests deal with recruiting and organizational attraction, human error, crisis management, diversity, integrity, and creativity & innovation. He has published many peer-reviewed research articles and practitioner articles on these and other topics. His areas of teaching are primarily in the fields of Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. He has been the recipient of several teaching awards and has served on over 30 doctoral dissertation committees. He is most proud of winning the college chili cooking competition.

Steve has consulted for numerous large corporations, small businesses, and government agencies. He has been the invited speaker for many companies and conferences. Steve is currently on the board of Project Learn, the HR committee of the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga National Park, the steering committee for the Cuyahoga Valley Photographic Society, is a graduate of Leadership Akron, and enjoys volunteering in the community. Prior to pursuing an education, Steve worked as a hod tender, a long-distance truck driver, a ranch hand, a research diver, and worked on a squid ship in the Pacific. He also worked for IBM for several years as a human factors engineer. His varied experiences have helped him appreciate the value of education.
