21st Annual Red & White on Thursday Night Seeking Volunteers on Jan. 25


Support the Arthritis Foundation by volunteering at the 21st Annual Red & White on Thursday Night, presented by Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Red & White on Thursday Night is Akron’s premier wine and food event. Nearly 800 attendees will enjoy delicious dishes from Akron’s top chefs, craft beer tastings, a variety of domestic and international wines, silent and live auctions and more! The event is 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Quaker Station, University of Akron, 135 S Broadway St. Volunteer times vary.

Network After Work! at 91.3 The Summit on Jan. 18


Network After Work! at 91.3 The Summit. Listen to live music in the Summit's Studio C, tour the studios, and network with fellow Akron business professionals. Enjoy live music from the Vindy's in Studio C and Marc Lee Shannon in the Summit Atrium. Food provided by Totally Cooked Catering, and beverages provided by NORKA Beverage. Both food and drink provided courtesy of Totally Cooked Catering. This is a free event, but you must register to attend. Doors open at 4:30 pm, with program and networking from 5 to 7 pm.

Skye Forney Scholarship Foundation Presents Beyond Vision Conference on Feb. 10


Our Beyond Vision Program allocates visual aid equipment to blind and low vision individuals. Raising Public Awareness to the daily achievements of people whom are visually impaired. We work to create a base of support for community groups forming an alliance to provide and dramatically accelerate development in visually impaired awareness. The foundation will be introducing the Beyond Vision Performing Arts Academy.
Our Beyond Vision Conference features speaker Pastor Donald N. Mayes, Jr., and guest gospel recording artist, J-West, Texas.

Urban Speaks Luncheon Series featuring Dr. Ruth Okediji on March 8


Dr. Ruth Okediji, William L. Prosser Professor of Law, University of Minnesota, will provide the keynote lecture on 'protecting your intellectual property'.

Dr. Okediji is an internationally recognized legal scholar in the field of intellectual property rights.  Her scholarship focuses on issues of innovation policy, economic development, and global knowledge governance in the context of international institutions and public international law. Professor Okediji has been acknowledged nationally and internationally for her research and professional service and is regularly cited for her work on IP-related issues in developing and least-developed countries. Furthermore, she has served as a policy advisor on the impact of IP protection on development goals for many governments and inter-governmental organizations. Dr. Okediji has also served as a consultant for the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development, the U.N. Development Program, and the World Intellectual Property Organization and has directed research and technical assistance projects in Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Caribbean.
A graduate of the University of Jos (LL.B.) and Harvard Law School (LL.M., S.J.D.), Professor Okediji is licensed to practice law in New York and Minnesota.
