Art After Five at Western Reserve Hospital on Jun. 21

Join Western Reserve Hospital, in partnership with ArtsNow, Collide: Cuyahoga Falls, the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Akron Chamber for an inspired evening of networking at the third-annual Community Art Showcase.  Enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers while you socialize and network in a creative, relaxed setting. Art will be available for purchase, and Falls boutiques will host pop-up shops.  Live music will be performed.

Akron Safety Town Seeking Volunteers in June

Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions. Most specifically needed are folks willing and able to help the children engage the activities within the small groups. Volunteers act simultaneously as mentor, chaperone, and teacher to support the adult team leaders/teachers. Volunteers can choose which day/days and how much time they want to serve. The first week is June 18-22, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Forest Hill CLC, 850 Damon St. The second week is June 25-29, 8:30 a.m. to noon, King CLC, 805 Memorial Pkwy. Medical Professionals, Families to Benefit from Living With Grief® Program Seminar on May 3

The Hospice Foundation of America’s (HFA) Living With Grief® program, “Transforming Loss: Finding Potential for Growth” will be presented locally at Kent State University at Stark.  Once again sponsored by the Canton Regional Area Health Education Center (AHEC), the 25th annual program will be moderated by Frank Sesno, former CNN anchor and current director of the School of Media and Public Affairs at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The program will feature a panel of experts, who will explore the most current theoretical perspectives on loss and grief, emphasizing that loss engenders not only grief, but also growth.  The presentation addresses the phenomena of post-traumatic growth, and includes self-help tips for individuals grieving a loss and strategies professionals can use to assist individuals. This educational program combines presentations by experts with video, discussion and additional complimentary learning materials. The program is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Registration begins at noon. Two (2.0) continuing education (CE) credits are available for a wide range of professions. Peak Viewing for Daffodils in Furnace Run Metro Park

Thousands of daffodils – including dozens of varieties – are expected to be at or near peak-bloom by this weekend and through the middle part of next week along the H.S. Wagner Daffodil Trail in Furnace Run Metro Park (3100 Brush Rd., Richfield). Parking in the gravel lot is limited to about 10 cars, so visitors are encouraged to be patient and go weekdays before 4 p.m. There are three picnic tables and a porta-potty near the start of the trail. The 0.6-mile Daffodil Trail is named for the first director of Summit Metro Parks. Harold S. Wagner planted the first bulbs there in the late 1930s. For more information, call (330) 865-8065.
