Art After Five at Western Reserve Hospital on Jun. 21


Join Western Reserve Hospital, in partnership with ArtsNow, Collide: Cuyahoga Falls, the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Akron Chamber for an inspired evening of networking at the third-annual Community Art Showcase.  Enjoy complimentary drinks and appetizers while you socialize and network in a creative, relaxed setting. Art will be available for purchase, and Falls boutiques will host pop-up shops.  Live music will be performed.

WAKR Speaker Series with Terry Pluto on Jun. 28


Hey Sports Fans!  Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 28, as 1590 WAKR invites you to a special benefit luncheon for the Salvation Army.  Our featured guest speaker is Terry Pluto, sportswriter, newspaper columnist and author. Akron Safety Town Seeking Volunteers in June


Volunteers are needed for a variety of positions. Most specifically needed are folks willing and able to help the children engage the activities within the small groups. Volunteers act simultaneously as mentor, chaperone, and teacher to support the adult team leaders/teachers. Volunteers can choose which day/days and how much time they want to serve. The first week is June 18-22, 8:30 a.m. to noon, Forest Hill CLC, 850 Damon St. The second week is June 25-29, 8:30 a.m. to noon, King CLC, 805 Memorial Pkwy. Volunteers can call Fairlawn West United Church of Christ's school secretary, Susan Kolarik at (330) 864-2179 to schedule dates and times.

How to Stay Out of Legal Trouble with Social Media & Content Marketing on September 15

"Wheel of Fortune's" Wheelmobile Stops at Hard Rock Rocksino in Search of Contestants to Play on "Wheel of Fortune"


On Friday, October 21, from 6 - 10 PM and on Saturday, October 22, from 12 - 4 PM, Wheel of Fortune’s Wheelmobile, the show’s promotional vehicle, will be in the Cleveland area in search of good game players who are energetic, enthusiastic and fun.  Viewers interested in being a contestant on an upcoming episode are invited to attend.  Fans will have the opportunity to fill out an application, have his or her name drawn at random to play a simulated version of the game onstage, win unique prizes and be evaluated as a potential contestant for the broadcast version of the show.

Staff members from the Wheel of Fortune promotions team will begin handing out applications one hour before each show begins. On Friday, searches will be held at 6 PM, 7:30 PM and 9 PM. On Saturday, searches will be held at 12 PM, 1:30 PM and 3 PM with each show lasting about an hour.  Everyone who attends the event will be able to submit an application.  Participants will be selected to come to the stage and audition via a random draw.

Judi Christy has been named the Marketing Director of the Akron Area YMCA. Christy, who has been the Marketing Director for ArtsinStark and the Special Events and Marketing Director for Fieldcrest Estate, brings years of successful non-profit and corporate experience to her position serving the Akron, Medina and Portage area YMCAs.

64th Anniversary Celebration: Justice for All on October 6


Community Legal Aid will host its 64th Anniversary Celebration the evening of October 6th. This yearly event honors community partners, volunteers, and employees. The night will consist of a silent auction, open bar and heavy hors d'oeurves, an awards presentation, and coffee and dessert. All proceeds of the event go directly to supporting our clients and our community education programs. September 11th Patriot Day Event


The Love Akron Network, along with the City of Akron and Akron Fire and Police, will host a 15th Anniversary Remembrance event that will also honor our current safety forces. There will be free food for the first 1,000 people. A special 1:30 commemoration will be held at 1:30 p.m. and will be led by MC Eric Mansfield. This is a family-friendly event and will include touch-a-truck, inflatables, and exhibitors.

50th Anniversary of OHIO MART is October 6-9 Milestone Year


Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens celebrates the 50th anniversary of OHIO MART during the four-day artisan craft fair on the estate, October 6-9, 2016.  Hours are 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Thursday - Saturday and 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Stan Hywet is located at 714 North Portage Path in Akron, Ohio.
An Akron tradition and a milestone year for the event, the centerpiece of Ohio Mart is an artisan crafts showcase featuring 120 artists (including more than 20 new exhibitors) with talents in sculpture, photography, garden art, pottery, fiber art, jewelry, metal art, painting, woodworking and more -- all  set against the backdrop of a beautiful fall landscape. Exhibitor tents  are located in the gardens, so guests may enjoy the fall landscape as they shop and explore Ohio Mart.
Tickets to Ohio Mart are $10 for adults, $4 for youth, ages 6-17; children 5 and under are free with an adult. Combo tickets for Ohio Mart include a self-guided tour of the Manor House and Inspiration in Bloom and are $16 adults, $5 youth. Parking on the Great Meadow is $5. On Saturday and Sunday, October 8 and 9 there is free off-site parking at Todaro's Party Center (1820 Akron-Peninsula Rd.) and the Personalized Wellness Center (1635 Merriman Rd.) with free shuttle to/from Stan Hywet.

Rocksino Charity Concert Features Tom Keifer with Special Guest Devil Strip on September 30


Best known as the singer, songwriter, guitarist of the Philadelphia-based Blues-Rock band, “Cinderella,” Tom Keifer rocks his way to the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park concert stage on September 30.  All proceeds from the concert benefit Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio to help advance the organization’s mission of a world without breast cancer.
