Business Resources

Luigi's Pizza - Since 1949

The Chamber supports the small business community by advocating for its more than 1,500 members in Summit, Portage, and Medina Counties. We stand together before elected leaders at all levels to raise issues that are key to regional competitiveness and provide business assistance to both aspiring and seasoned entrepreneurs, increasing the formation of new businesses and strengthening the operations of businesses in the early stages of development.

The Greater Akron Region is poised to welcome economic growth and investment over the coming years. As a leading economic development organization, the Chamber works to create a climate that encourages business attraction, retention, job creation, entrepreneurship, workforce development and infrastructure support.

Economic Development services provided by the Greater Akron Chamber:

  • Complete orientation to the tri-county area
  • Site and building identification
  • Comprehensive statistical data and information for the region
  • Liaison to local and state government contacts
  • Access to regional business leadership
  • Fixed asset financing programs through Industrial Revenue Bond Financing and Ohio Enterprise Bond Financing
  • Personal support throughout the entire attraction, relocation or expansion process

Ohio has been ranked as “the most improved business climate in the U.S.” by Chief Executive Magazine’s 736 chief executives. Locally, the Chamber can help you reach the right organizations for incentives/tax benefits within the three counties and local municipalities on a project-by-project basis. The unique business climate provides an array of funding assistance through JobsOhio Loan and Grant Programs, State financing and grants, state economic development programs, and Brownfield and Revitalization funding.

A complete list of available funding assistance can be found at the JobsOhio Funding Site.

In 2013, the Greater Akron Chamber received the International Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) “Bronze” award for their program.

The Greater Akron Chamber exists to build a strong, innovative, and cooperative community.
