Skills Standards

The National Skills Standards Board
The NSSB encourages the creation and adoption of a national system of skill standards that will enhance the ability of the United States to compete effectively in a global economy.

Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC)
The MSSC has developed skill standards for broad concentrations of work in manufacturing: Production, Production Process Development, Logistics and Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, Health, Safety and Environmental Assurance, and Maintenance, Installation and Repair.

Employment Regulations

Occuptional Safety and Health Administration
OSHA offers many resources designed specifically for smaller employers. The agency wants to encourage all businesses to establish safety and health programs and find and fix hazards to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
The EEOC enforces the principal federal statutes prohibiting employment discrimination on the basis of an individual's race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.

Employment Standards Administration
The Employment Standards Administration (ESA), the largest agency within the US Department of Labor, enforces and administers laws governing legally-mandated wages and working conditions, including child labor, minimum wages, overtime and family and medical leave; equal employment opportunity in businesses with federal contracts and subcontracts; workers' compensation for certain employees injured on their jobs; internal union democracy and financial integrity, and union elections, which protect the rights of union members; and other laws and regulations governing employment standards and practices.
