School to be Built in the Inventors Hall of Fame

With the combined effort of the Akron Public School district, the University of Akron, the city of Akron, and the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame, Akron will soon have a one-of-a-kind middle school attached to the Inventor’s Hall of Fame. The school will offer 500 students in fifth through eighth grade classes with a heavy emphasis in math, science, and technology. The school is part of the district’s 15-year renovation project. The middle school in the Inventor’s Hall of Fame will be the first school of its kind in the state of Ohio.

The Greater Akron Chamber would like to know how you see the school materializing. What will the students and teachers do everyday? How should the middle school utilize the nearby university, library, and city resources? What is the best way to encourage creativity in young people to advance learning? Who should visit the school- scientists, inventors, mathematicians? How will this school be unique from other middle schools in the nation? Please provide your feedback to Ashley Stine at 330-237-1262, by fax at 330-379-3164, or by e-mail at stine@greaterakronchamber.org.
