Small Business Council

Mission Statement

The Small Business Council (SBC) is a division of the Greater Akron Chamber. The SBC has the mission to promote and represent the interests of businesses with 250 or fewer employees within Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties. The SBC's Board of Directors serves as the governing body to promote programs, activities, and networking opportunities. All Greater Akron Chamber members with 250 or fewer employees are automatically members of the Small Business Council.

Purposes of the SBC

  • To promote and represent the interests of the small business community in the tri-county area of Medina, Portage, and Summit Counties both within the Greater Akron Chamber and in the general community.
  • To develop and present educational programming related to the needs of the small business and to serve as an informational source for the small business community.
  • To participate actively in legislative matters affecting small business.
  • To provide such other programs as the Board of Directors of the SBC may from time to time determine beneficial to the small business community.
