The Greater Akron Chamber supports the Clean Ohio initiative and encourages our members this November to “Vote Yes for Clean Ohio-Issue 2”.
Overview
The Clean Ohio Fund-Issue 2 will be on the November 2008 statewide ballot. It is the continuation of a bond program passed in 2000 that improves the quality of life for all Ohioans – without new taxes.
Every citizen in Ohio benefits from Clean Ohio Fund grants, which are distributed to projects in almost every Ohio county. The grants protect Ohio family farms, conserve wildlife habitats, create recreational trails and clean and revitalize polluted industrial sites, all of which stimulate economic development, create jobs and investment in Ohio.
Since it began, Clean Ohio has:
- Cleaned up 173 abandoned, polluted sites.
- Preserved over 26,000 acres of natural areas and wildlife habitats.
- Protected over 20,000 acres of family farms.
- Created over 216 miles of new recreational trails.
- Leveraged nearly $2.6 billion in private investment, expected to result in over 14,000 new jobs.
- Distributed over $19 million in grants to projects in Summit County.
Help us spread the word about Clean Ohio - Issue 2 is not a tax increase!
