Play Big – A Chalk Talk with Jen Welter on October 16

10/2/2017

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is teaming up with Jen Welter, the first woman to coach in the NFL, for a special event. "Play Big – A Chalk Talk with Jen Welter" is an opportunity for fans to connect with Welter, hear her story as a leader for women in football and ask her questions about how they too can be trailblazers in life.

Welter is releasing her first book, Play Big: Lessons in Being Limitless from the First Woman to Coach in the NFL, on October 3. A sports memoir, Welter showcases the grit it took to reach the NFL and gives readers the coaching they need to do the same in their lives.

Welter made history as the first woman to coach in the NFL when she joined the Arizona Cardinals during training camp in 2015 as a linebackers coach. Her journey to the NFL is nothing short of remarkable as she laid everything on the line for the sport she is so passionate about – football.

Prior to coaching in the NFL, Welter played women’s professional football for more than a decade, winning four national championships with the Dallas Diamonds. She then became the first woman to play as a running back in a men’s professional league when she joined Texas Revolution where she eventually became a part of the coaching staff. Welter also earned two gold medals as a member of Team USA in the 2010 and 2013 International Federation of American Football’s Women’s World Championship. Her achievements off the field are equally impressive as she holds a doctorate degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Sport Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College.

Fans interested in attending the special Chalk Talk featuring Welter can register on the Hall’s website below. The event is $15 and includes a copy of her new book, Play Big: Lessons in being Limitless from the First Woman to Coach in the NFL, which retails for $26. Space is limited, and registration will close once capacity is reached.
