The annual National Sales & Marketing Executives (NSME) “Accent on Excellence” awards program in the greater Akron/Canton region recognizes the Executive of the Year, the Outstanding Community Leader, multiple “Achievements in Excellence” awards recipients and the Exceptional Sales and Marketing Collegiate Recipient.  Click here to see the recipients.
 
These honorees have demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism during their careers in diverse sales and marketing roles. Winners are selected by NSME leaders, based on nominations from local professionals, questionnaire responses provided by the nominees and publicly available information. Hale Farm & Village's "Made in Ohio Festival" Preview Party on September 1

Join us for The Made in Ohio Festival Preview Party.  The event highlights Ohio food and beverages as well as Hale Farm & Village artisans demonstrating traditional crafts and trades. The preview night offers attendees an experience of strolling the grounds of Hale Farm enjoying Ohio made appetizers and beverages and an opportunity to purchase from over 80 artists prior to the show opening!  Enjoy local beer and wine and appetizers from local food vendors. Hale Farm & Village Hosts "Made In Ohio Arts & Crafts Festival" on September 2 & 3

This festival will feature over 160 Ohio artisans, local food, entertainment, and all that Hale Farm & Village has to offer. Vendors include jewelry artists, potters, woodworkers, glass artists, soap and lotion makers, quilters, and a variety of unique artisans. Ohio beer and wine tasting will also be available. Celebrate Ohio!

Akron Rubber Ducks and NEOVETS Salute to the Military Fundraiser on June 30

Conference for HR Professionals to be Held at Kent State Stark on July 20

As the business world continues to grow more dynamic and complex, so does the role of the human resource professional.  In response to this challenge, The Corporate University at Kent State University at Stark will hold the 2017 Human Resource Symposium on Thursday, July 20. Designed for HR professionals, attendees will learn about the latest research on emerging trends and best solutions for dealing with tough concerns and tumultuous change.
 
There will be two keynote presentations and four breakout sessions. Keynote sessions include “Ignite Passion to Drive Bottom Line Results” with Mark Roberts, sales training manager for The Timken Company and “The Future of Work” with Amy Shannon, president of Pinnacle Leadership Solutions LLC and Sonya Weiland, founder of Your Partner in HR and president of WeilandWorks Consulting, both of Strongsville.

Hale Farm & Village Civil War Reenactment 2017 on August 12 & 13

Thousands of visitors and reenactors flock to Hale Farm & Village annually for this popular summertime event—the largest annual Civil War reenactment in Ohio. Meet soldiers, cavalry, and civilians. Hear the sounds of battle and smell the gunpowder. Shake hands with President Lincoln or shop for a hoopskirt. Don’t miss the excitement! Hale Farm is open 10:00am-5:00pm $10 adults; $5 youth ages 3-12; youth 2 and under & members free.

Summit County to Hold "Can Do!" Dog Licensing Program at Five ACME Fresh Market Locations on June 24

Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise will partner with Acme Fresh Markets to host “Can Do!” – a one-day event to provide amnesty to Summit County dog owners who have not yet purchased their 2017 dog licenses. During the event, dog owners who failed to renew their dog’s license will have their $18 late-fee waived by donating a can of dog food to the Summit County Division of Animal Control.

Community foundation, Direction Home partnership addresses rapidly growing aging adult population

Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities will receive a grant of up to $200,000 from the Akron Community Foundation to create a coalition to meeting needs of Summit County's growing senior population. The first step of the project is the coordination of a needs assessment to gauge pressing issues. In addition, several organizations are working together on a shared process to coordinate the intake of Summit County seniors requesting services.
