Chamber Presents The Morning Buzz on April 21 Featuring Jay Mellon of AtNetPlus

Greater Akron—The Morning Buzz is a monthly speaker breakfast series, which aims to connect small- and medium-sized businesses by facilitating the exchange of ideas and strategies for business growth and success.  On Friday, April 21, 2017, join us to hear Jay Mellon, CEO, AtNetPlus, present “Simple Solutions to Protect Yourself from Cyber Crime.”  Jay will discuss how to recognize fake e-mails and when not to click, how to protect your business’s network and all the latest e-mail phishing scams you should be aware of.

Born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, Jay has been in the technology industry for over 20 years.  He started his career working for IBM Global Services out of their Minneapolis office, traveling to client accounts across the country.  IBM eventually sent him to the Akron area to work on The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company account.  Jay fell in love with Northeast Ohio and moved to the area permanently in 1997. After gaining valuable experience in large corporate environments, Jay followed his entrepreneurial calling and co-founded AtNetPlus in 1998.  Before his tech work, Jay worked as a carpenter and attended North Dakota State University studying Construction Management. Today, Jay leads AtNetPlus as CEO along with co-founder and President, Jim Laber.  AtNetPlus provides IT, Cloud, and web services to small- and medium-sized businesses primarily in Northeast Ohio.

Outside of the office, Jay loves his family and spends a great deal of time with his wife and two kids.  Family adventures through the parks in the area are a must!  And, as you might expect of someone in the technology service business, Jay is a fan of gadgets and indulging in the latest and greatest tech toys.

The Morning Buzz will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Akron, 1307 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44305.  Business connections, registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., and the program will be held from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.  The cost is $25 for members, $50 for non-members and includes a breakfast buffet.  To make a reservation, call the Greater Akron Chamber at (330) 376-5550 or register on-line at www.greaterakronchamber.org.
