The Late Russell Pry to be Honored with H. Peter Burg Award at Chamber's 2017 Annual Meeting

110th Meeting Brings Together Community Leaders
Greater Akron—The Greater Akron Chamber has announced that Russell M. Pry, late Summit County Executive, will be honored posthumously with the H. Peter Burg Award. Anthony J. Alexander, last year’s awardee, will present the award on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the Greater Akron Chamber’s 110th Annual Meeting at the John S. Knight Center.
The award recognizes Pry as someone of paramount leadership for the advancement of Greater Akron’s economic and community development. The award was created in memory of H. Peter Burg by the Chamber’s Executive Committee to recognize a leader who promotes economic development in the Greater Akron region.
“Russ was a leader for Summit County and a collaborative executive who helped move our region forward,” said Greater Akron Chamber President and CEO Daniel Colantone. “His leadership is missed, and we are proud to acknowledge him in this way.”
Pry, who had been county executive for nearly nine years, focused on local economic development and was a key figure in keeping Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations Technical Center and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company Global and North American Headquarters and Innovation Center in Akron.
For 110 years, the Greater Akron Chamber's Annual Meeting has been one of the area’s most popular gatherings of business and community leaders. Each year, decision-makers from private and public sectors convene to commemorate the many successes of the past year, share plans for the future and enjoy excellent company and camaraderie.
