Get Involved

The Greater Akron Chamber has a multitude of diverse opportunities for leaders and those who aspire to leadership. Engage in one of these boards, committees or councils to support our work on behalf of the Greater Akron region.

Executive Committee and Board of Directors

The Board of the Greater Akron Chamber represents the mission of the Chamber and oversees its initiatives. It is open by invitation to members who are Investors.

The Executive Committee is open to board members only, by invitation.

  • Resource Development Committee is an investor led campaign to bring in and engage new prospects and current investors in the Chamber.

  • Government Affairs Committee Works to inform Chamber members of issues and provides opportunities for interaction with elected officials, candidates and government representatives.

    It is open to all Chamber members, by application.

  • Chamber Services Council focuses on oversight and in an advisory capacity, provides counsel on programs and services to support business, and to improve their bottom line in support of the Chamber’s mission to drive economic development and prosperity for the people of the Greater Akron region.

  • Economic Development Council supports Economic Development staff for new and developing businesses and a favorable climate for business attraction, retention, job creation, entrepreneurship, workforce development and infrastructure support.

Small Business Council

The Small Business Council (SBC) develops programs for and about small and mid-market businesses. These programs include Morning Buzz for networking and the Excellence in Business Awards honoring growing businesses in the Akron region. It is open to all Chamber members who are small business owners or principals, by application.

  • Membership Committee works to attract, recruit and engage new small business Chamber members.

  • Events & Programs Committee develops and promotes programs, participation and attendance at Small Business Council programs The Morning Buzz and the Excellence in Business Awards breakfast events.

  • Advocacy Committee develops opportunities for SBC members to hear from elected officials, candidates and government representatives and learn about issues important to small businesses.

  • Excellence in Business Awards Committee develops and conducts nomination, judging and award processes for the Excellence in Business Awards and works with Chamber staff to implement the awards program.

  • Chamber Ambassadors represent the Chamber at various events and actively welcome new members. The group is open to active members (with at least one year of membership) by application.

KNOW Board of Directors

KNOW (Knowledgeable Network of Women) is a personal and professional development program for businesswomen in the Greater Akron Region. Open to Greater Akron Chamber members, KNOW provides a niche networking opportunity in a supportive environment for women to discuss emerging issues affecting women in business for a $35 per person annual fee.
The Board of KNOW develops programming, hosts events and develops strategic initiatives to support women in business. It is open to KNOW members by application.

Young Professionals Network Advisory

Young Professionals Network (YPN) provides networking, learning and engagement of talent ages 21-39 in the Greater Akron region, although all are welcome. Business and individual memberships provide networking opportunities such as Leadership Luncheons, biennial YP Summit, and 30 for the Future. Cost is $35 membership/included for business members.
The Young Professionals Advisory is the leadership team providing oversight, developing programming and initiatives and representing YPN to the public. It is open to YPN members by application.
