KNOW on the GO:
The KNOW on the GO focuses on providing Women's Network members an opportunity to build stronger relationships in a smaller group setting.  Designed for busy professionals and business owners, this monthly lunch format includes networking, reconnection to old friends and new faces while gathering to meet a woman or women of note.  Topics range from presentations on business tips, community insights, thought leadership, research or subject matter experts. Meet individuals from all corners who will impart nuggets of knowledge to grow one’s mind and heart.  Expect to be educated or challenged to think critically on relevant issues for women.  Women’s Network and the Greater Akron Chamber invite you engage in this activity to lead greater, grow stronger and ultimately positively impact our region.

Speaker: Adina Walker
Topic: Switching Lanes: Recognizing and Understanding Your Value

I bet you didn't know that you already have what it takes!  Your contributions in and out of the workplace make you inexplicably you, however, we often fail to recognize the difference we make.  Join us as we talk about what it means to switch lanes while embracing our value!

A hometown native and alumnus of Akron Public Schools, Adina Walker left for Syracuse University after graduation and spent the next 26 years in other parts of the country as her husband’s career advanced.  While entering and exiting the workforce as the needs of her family evolved, Ms. Calhoun “switched lanes” on numerous occasions as family situations permitted.  In 2018 Ms. Calhoun-Walker returned to northeast Ohio to support the family business after the death of her father, a long-time business owner and family patriarch who founded a legacy Akron business.  Ms. Calhoun-Walker currently serves as the Workflow Manager at Calhoun Funeral Home.  She will share from both her experiences and her understanding of the conversations that women have with themselves, inside their own heads.    Join us for lunch at the Greater Akron Chamber Event Space to hear about Ms. Walker’s experiences and be inspired to find the courage to step outside your comfort zone as you contemplate “Switching Lanes.”
