The Morning Buzz, sponsored by SummaCare, is a monthly speaker breakfast series which aims to connect small and medium size businesses by facilitating the exchange of ideas and strategies for business growth and success.

Join us to hear Ken Babby, Owner & CEO of the Akron RubberDucks and Jacksonville Suns, present "Bringing Affordable Family Fun to QuAkron".

Ken Babby was formally introduced as the new Owner and Chief Executive Officer of the then-named Akron Aeros during a news conference at Canal Park on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Babby is only the second owner in the history of the Akron franchise.
With an emphasis on improving the fan experience and Canal Park, Babby has invested more than $7 million of private funds into Canal Park. Improvements have included a brand new HD video board, the addition of The Game Grill + Bar, a seasonal, high-end restaurant, a new Family Territory picnic area, the Tiki Terrace and Tiki Bar group areas, and the exclusive, special event space, The Duck Club at Canal Park.
As a result of the changes and a continued emphasis on being Canal Park the destination for affordable, family fun in Akron, total attendance rose to 350,704 in 2014, a record 15.7 percent increase over 2013 and an astonishing two-year total of 27.7 percent growth during Babby’s first two seasons of ownership. Meanwhile, the team rose from ninth to fourth in the Eastern League ranks.
Babby, spent 13 years in various marketing positions with the Washington Post, and its online and social media counterpart, Washington Post Digital.  After starting as a summer intern with the newspaper in 1999, Babby rose through the ranks, eventually attaining the position of Vice President of Advertising, and most recently, Chief Revenue Officer of Washington Post Media and General Manager of Washington Post Digital.
Babby is the founder of Fast Forward Sports Group and was named one of Sports Business Journal’s 2016 “Forty Under 40,” recognizing excellence and innovation in sports business careers – all before age 40. Babby, 36, became the youngest multi-team professional sports owner in March 2015 after purchasing the Miami Marlins’ Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns.
In 2015, Crain’s Cleveland Business also honored him as one of its local 2015 “Forty Under 40” awards for his civic contributions and professional success.
Babby serves on numerous boards in Northeast Ohio, including: Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Reserve, Shaw JCC of Akron, Business Volunteers Unlimited (BVU), Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, Akron Roundtable, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, Positive Coaching Alliance (Cleveland), University of Akron Business Management Advisory Board, Summa Health System Foundation Board, Akron General Hospital Outpatient Advisory Board, and Downtown Akron Partnership. In addition, he serves on the Wheaton College Board of Trustees, his alma mater.
