Save the Date (Aug. 1) for Stewart's Caring Place's 17th Annual Butterfly Gala

The Butterfly Gala is the most attended and largest annual fundraiser for Stewart's Caring Place (SCP). Held each year at a different home in Northeast Ohio, this unique event brings close to 500 supporters of the agency together for an outdoor, relaxed, and memorable evening complete with valet service, VIP cocktail reception, plated dinner, silent and live auction, dancing, and more. This year, the Gala will be held on Saturday August 1, 2020 at the Wadsworth home of Dr. & Mrs. Michael & Brandi Gangel and will honor Spirit Award winners Mr. & Mrs. David & Lisa Craine.

Mayor Dan Horrigan’s State of the City address underlined the need for all of us to recognize the value of driving shared prosperity in our region. At the Greater Akron Chamber we have been working closely with Mayor Horrigan, County Executive Ilene Shapiro and dozens of leaders within the philanthropic, business and non-profit ecosystem through our shared Elevate Greater Akron economic development strategy that includes driving action and measurable progress on economic inclusion.

Battered Women's Shelter and The Rape Crisis Center presents "No Harm Awards" on Jul. 25

The Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties will host the presentation of its first NO HARM Awards, as well a building dedication at the agency, located at 974 E. Market St. Agency officials stated the award was established to recognize community partners who have made a difference in how victims and survivors of domestic violence rebuild their lives one day at a time. Akron Area YMCA Presents "P.S. I Love You 5K" on Sep. 14

These races benef the Kohl Family YMCA and our Middlebury neighbors.  The 5K and 1M event begins and ends at the Kohl Family YMCA/Summa Health campus in East Akron and travels through the Middlebury neighborhood, where they will meet and experience the people and businesses committed to the revitalization of this historic community . Akron Zoo Carnival of Tails on Jul. 28

Visit the Akron Zoo for a day of carnival themed fun! There will be bounce houses, games, crafts, music, and prizes to win! Don't forget fair food galore! Even the animals will be joining the festivities with carnival themed enrichment.
