3rd Annual Diversity Mixer on Oct. 17

The County of Summit and the City of Akron, in partnership with Black Pages Ohio and the Summit Magazine, would like to invite you to partner with us in this special event.  This mixer provides the opportunity for small business owners and corporations to meet, network and promote their services.  The wide array of businesses and industries provides unique business-to-business collaborations and connections.

Support the Arthritis Foundation by volunteering at the 21st Annual Red & White on Thursday Night, presented by Cleveland Clinic Akron General. Red & White on Thursday Night is Akron’s premier wine and food event. Nearly 800 attendees will enjoy delicious dishes from Akron’s top chefs, craft beer tastings, a variety of domestic and international wines, silent and live auctions and more! The event is 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Quaker Station, University of Akron, 135 S Broadway St. Volunteer times vary.

Network After Work! at 91.3 The Summit. Listen to live music in the Summit's Studio C, tour the studios, and network with fellow Akron business professionals. Enjoy live music from the Vindy's in Studio C and Marc Lee Shannon in the Summit Atrium. Food provided by Totally Cooked Catering, and beverages provided by NORKA Beverage. Both food and drink provided courtesy of Totally Cooked Catering. This is a free event, but you must register to attend. Doors open at 4:30 pm, with program and networking from 5 to 7 pm.

Dominion Energy Ohio is recruiting individuals for Field Metering Services Helper positions. These positions are full-time opportunities and start at $21.10 an hour. These positions require the following:
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Desire to learn and perform advanced tasks
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Willingness to work overtime, shifts and call-outs
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to pass a physical assessment and mechanical aptitude test
Interested applicants should consider attending one of the recruitment sessions to meet with supervisors and hiring managers to discuss qualifications. Sessions will be held on the following dates at two separate locations:

Empower! for Women-Owned Businesses on Jan. 8

ECDI/WBC and the Women’s Network bring entrepreneurs in the Greater Akron region a new series of entrepreneurial training: EMPOWER for Women-owned Businesses
 
Building a successful business takes a team. The EMPOWER for Women-owned Businesses collaborative is designed for entrepreneurs who are ready to expand their existing small enterprise into a viable and profitable business. Clients taking this course will focus on four critical developmental areas; business concept, organization, customer relations, and operations using the GrowthWheel® concept, an interactive tool that helps entrepreneurs develop their business through an action-oriented process. Clients will also complete homework assignments that will assist them in developing a business plan and 30/60/90 day action plan.

Community Legal Aid Presents "Pancakes for Pro Bono" on Oct. 3
