On the Table Greater Akron to Dig Into Akron's Issues on Oct. 3


Akron Beacon Journal On the Table Greater Akron returns next month with more public mealtime conversations designed to improve the community. “On the Table is an opportunity for everyone in the community to have their voice heard,” Akron Community Foundation Vice President of Community Investment John Garofalo said in a prepared statement. “We want to ensure all residents have the opportunity to participate, even if they don’t know someone hosting a conversation or are not comfortable hosting themselves. We’re excited that this will also give attendees the opportunity to meet and interact with people from different backgrounds and neighborhoods.” The conversations, headed by the foundation, are open to Summit and Medina County residents.  They will be held Oct. 3 at various locations.

3rd Annual Greater Summit Business Conference & Expo on April 26

Urban Speaks Luncheon Series featuring Dr. Ruth Okediji on March 8


Dr. Ruth Okediji, William L. Prosser Professor of Law, University of Minnesota, will provide the keynote lecture on 'protecting your intellectual property'.

Dr. Okediji is an internationally recognized legal scholar in the field of intellectual property rights.  Her scholarship focuses on issues of innovation policy, economic development, and global knowledge governance in the context of international institutions and public international law. Professor Okediji has been acknowledged nationally and internationally for her research and professional service and is regularly cited for her work on IP-related issues in developing and least-developed countries. Furthermore, she has served as a policy advisor on the impact of IP protection on development goals for many governments and inter-governmental organizations. Dr. Okediji has also served as a consultant for the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development, the U.N. Development Program, and the World Intellectual Property Organization and has directed research and technical assistance projects in Europe, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Caribbean.
A graduate of the University of Jos (LL.B.) and Harvard Law School (LL.M., S.J.D.), Professor Okediji is licensed to practice law in New York and Minnesota.

NAI Cummins Brings Large Condominium Development to Stow


Jennifer Fernandez, CCIM, SIOR brokered a land sale between seller BMB Northampton, Ltd. and buyer Universal Development. The property, which transferred today, includes 78 acres of land on Gilbert Road in Stow, Ohio, near the Stow Walmart. Universal Development plans to build a 220-unit development of condominium units for sale. The complex, an investment of more than $20 million to be completed in phases, will consist of 55 four-condominium buildings with units ranging from 1,500-1,600 SF.
