Akron Urban League Presents Procurement Corridor Event on Oct. 24

If you are a business owner and need information on how to find opportunities and contracts for your business, this event is for you!

Key Goals:

  • Business owners will meet face-to-face with local companies and learn how to bid on their contracting opportunities.
  • Business owners will be provided details on how to do business in the Greater Akron Region.
  • Business owners will receive coaching on how to navigate a vendor registration process in order to register and bid on opportunities.
  • Business owners will connect with agencies that have resources and services that can help with managing and growing a business.

Volunteer Guardian Program Needs Volunteers

The Volunteer Guardian Program is a program of Summit County Probate Court, administered by Summit County Public Health.  Our goal is to match compassionate volunteers to serve as court-appointed Guardian of the Person to individuals in nursing homes and group homes in Summit County who are no longer able to make their own health care and placement decisions. Volunteer guardians serve as a voice and provide advocacy and decision-making to those in need.

Window World Akron Announces Grand Re-Opening on Oct. 5 & 6 and Ribbon Cutting on Oct. 4

Window World of Akron will kick off the Grand Re-opening of their expanded showroom and warehouse with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at 2424 Gilchrist Road, Akron, OH.  A Grand Re-Opening Open House for the general public will take place  Friday, October 5, 2018, and Saturday, October 6, 2018, with refreshments, prizes and a chance to win a $5,000 Home Makeover from Window World. 

On the Table Greater Akron to Dig Into Akron's Issues on Oct. 3

Akron Beacon Journal On the Table Greater Akron returns next month with more public mealtime conversations designed to improve the community. “On the Table is an opportunity for everyone in the community to have their voice heard,” Akron Community Foundation Vice President of Community Investment John Garofalo said in a prepared statement. “We want to ensure all residents have the opportunity to participate, even if they don’t know someone hosting a conversation or are not comfortable hosting themselves. We’re excited that this will also give attendees the opportunity to meet and interact with people from different backgrounds and neighborhoods.” The conversations, headed by the foundation, are open to Summit and Medina County residents.  They will be held Oct. 3 at various locations.

Hale Farm & Village Presents "Hale Harvest 5K" on Oct. 6

The 5K loop course invites runners and walkers to experience the natural beauty of Hale Farm & Village as they run along nature trails, in the sugar bush, past historic houses, through farmyards, rural pastures and creek crossings.  The top three finishers overall and the top male and female finishers per category receive hand-crafted pieces from Hale Farm & Village’s Early American Craft and Trade artisans. University of Akron Interim President John Green to Kick Off DriveIT's New Speaker Series on Aug. 30

Akron-based DriveIT — the information technology skills training company founded by former Software Guild leader Eric Wise — is teaming up with the Greater Akron Chamber to help teach leadership skills.  The two are launching a monthly series of events called [email protected] that will feature area civic and business leaders talking to live audiences. The events will also be archived online for the public. The series will kick off Thursday, Aug. 30, with a presentation by The University of Akron Interim President Dr. John Green: "SurrealPolitik: Leading a Medieval Institution in the Modern World."
