Public Policy Agenda

The Public Policy Agenda mirrors the Advance Greater Akron investment priorities of talent, innovation, and leadership. With the help of our members and partners, we utilize a policy framework to guide responsible decisions that foster growth, job creation, and a strong quality of life for our communities.  The Chamber's 2019 Policy Priorities reflects this framework and assists us in communicating our members' positions.

The Greater Akron Chamber believes it's important for members to build and maintain relationships with those who make decisions at the local, state, and federal level.  The Chamber gives members the chance to stay informed on policy and issues while providing the opportunity to engage elected officials, candidates, and government representatives to discuss important issues.

Countdown to 2018

In anticipation of the 2018 elections, the Countdown to 2018 event series offers the unique opportunity to Chamber members to participate in multiple events centered around the 2018 election season where they can engage elected officials, candidates, and government representatives on important issues. Speakers include:

  • U.S. Congressman Tim Ryan, 13th District
  • U.S. Congressman Jim Renacci, 16th District and Candidate for U.S. Senate
  • Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, Gubernatorial Candidate
  • Ohio Senator Joe Schiavoni, Gubernatorial Candidate and former Senate Minority Leader
  • Ohio Representative Christina Hagan, Candidate for U.S. House, 16th District
  • Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, Gubernatorial Candidate (dropped out)
  • Mr. Mike Gibbons, Candidate for U.S. Senate
  • Ms. Melissa Ackinson, Candidate for U.S. Senate
  • Mr. Anthony Gonzalez, Candidate for U.S. House, 16th District
  • Mr. Grant Goodrich, Candidate for U.S. House, 16th District

Make Your Vote Count

Voting is a right and the ultimate expression of our freedom.  As the voice of the business community, the Greater Akron Chamber encourages our members to promote the importance of voting to their employees and to educate them on the ballot issues.  Visit your county board of election website on how to register to vote, vote early, or find your polling location.
